Ahmedabad: The Kankaria Carnival will be inaugurated by CM Bhupendra Patel at the Kankaria Lakefront premises in the city on Dec 25. The festivities will go on till Dec 31.
At the inaugural event, approximately 1,000 students from municipal schools and anganwadis will strive to set a Guinness World Record by simultaneously unwrapping and eating candies and chocolates. The event will feature a theme-based carnival parade, cultural programmes based on the themes of “Viksit Gujarat, Viksit India,” a light and sound show, a laser show and a drone show.
Jayeshkumar Upadhyay, deputy municipal commissioner of AMC, said, “Cultural and entertainment programmes including stand-up comedy have been lined up for all seven days. Three different stages have been set up for this purpose. The programmes will go on from 6am until midnight. We will also have yoga and laughter club gatherings in the morning.”
“Additional highlights include a food court and a flea market. A blood donation camp will also be held during the carnival. Medical teams will be deployed for visitors and a separate desk will be set up to assist in locating missing children. CCTV cameras will be installed, and police and fire teams will be stationed on the premises.”
