New Delhi: Sprinklers and smog guns will remain operational throughout the year, except during the monsoon, to tackle dust pollution, said chief minister Rekha Gupta, who addressed a high-level review meeting on controlling air pollution, on Thursday.
She also directed officials to strengthen enforcement teams at Delhi’s border areas for pollution checks. Road-owning agencies have been asked to submit weekly reports on repairs and cleanliness. The meeting was attended by Delhi environment minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, senior officials from the urban development department, MCD, DPCC, DDA, Delhi Traffic Police, PWD, revenue department, NDMC and DSIIDC. She also stressed on the importance of strict monitoring and rapid response from departments to combat pollution. The CM directed all departments to give a detailed action plan in a week.
“This high-level meeting was held to address key factors contributing to air pollution. Govt has been continuously making an effort to protect residents. However, external factors also contribute to pollution. Enforcement teams will be increased on borders for stricter vehicle pollution checks,” she added. TNN
