Mental health issues are on the rise in India today. Many young people have been experiencing mental health issues in India in recent years. Apart from the genetic inheritance of mental problems, people have succumbed to addiction to electronic gadgets and social media interference. Due to this, sleep deprivation has become a common disorder in most people of this era.
Smartphones and other smart gadgets addiction have taken a big shape worldwide, due to which people of all generations are facing multiple health problems, one of which is mental health. It has been observed that people have considerably become depressed, paranoid, stressed, and anxious in recent years.
With scientific and technological growth, people are getting inflicted on the unknown future. Constantly working on the computer or surfing on mobile phones can be the reason for sleep deprivation, which has become a major reason for anxiety and distress.
Sleep deprivation in the long term can incorporate a variety of health conditions that could have short-term to longer-lasting effects. When the sleep cycle gets disrupted, the regeneration of certain cells that are required to keep a person healthy gets compromised, and hence, the body starts behaving accordingly. The biological clock of every being differs, but the sleep proportion is somewhat similar, depending on the age of a person.
The sleeping pattern of a newborn is almost 18 hours whereas elderly ones might need 6-7 hours of sleep a day. When the biological clock gets disturbed, several chronic problems arise, like high blood pressure, depression, stroke, obesity, and heart and kidney diseases. Blood pressure and diabetes are often recognized as lifestyle diseases, which means they happen when the body does not fulfill the normal processes of regeneration of cells.
Today, in India, the development in the health sector has become increasingly important. Sadly, the lack of sufficient healthcare centers and expertise is a major reason for not identifying problem areas. Ever since the pandemic hit the world, anxiety and depression have become all too common. Unfortunately, in India, the stigma surrounding mental health is pervasive due to the lack of education and awareness.
It’s essential to encourage people to seek medical help for issues like paranoia and phobias. Doing so may lead to a decline in suicide rates and other criminal offenses related to mental health concerns.
It’s important to recognize that people who experience anxiety and paranoia often struggle with feelings of isolation and negativity toward themselves. Unfortunately, this can sometimes lead to thoughts of self-harm or suicide. As a society, we need to take responsibility for supporting those who are struggling with mental health challenges. Organizations that focus on caring for individuals with mental health needs have a crucial role to play in providing the necessary care and support. We must all work together to ensure those in need receive the help and resources they deserve.
As we continue to make scientific advancements in the medical field, we can now modify genes and genetically engineer the default setting of our genetic makeup. This has the potential to eliminate or resolve many health problems that have plagued us for generations. However, as with any advanced technology, the cost of these procedures can become a matter of concern for many individuals. It is important for the government to step in and ensure that these procedures are accessible to all who need them, regardless of their financial situation.
It is important to enforce health policies that have been developed by the World Health Organization. This can be achieved through proper budget allocation to the health sector, as well as the effective implementation of laws. It is also crucial to educate people from all walks of life about health issues in order to combat these conditions comprehensively. By doing so, we can create a safer and healthier society for everyone.
