Six people were swept away in the Ponnem field at Chaliyar in Malappuram district.
Only four people were rescued. The two missing persons were found dead two and a half hours later during the night search
Ponnempadam Kannancheri Jauhar (39) and his nephew Mohammad Nabhan (15) died in the current.
They went down to the river with their relatives this evening at low tide.
The cause of the accident was the undercurrent without knowing the deep part of the river.
Soon the nearby boaters rescued four people but Jauhar and Mohammad Nabhan were in danger.
Immediately after getting the information, the locals also searched the TDRF Civil Defence, Trauma Care, and Fire Force but did not find any results.
Muhammad Nabhan was found at around 8 am during a search in a Sangam boat led by TDRF volunteer Kabir of Pantheerkav.
Later, another boat belonging to the locals found the second body.
Michanta Fire Force scuba team arrived and searched. The body was shifted to Kozhikode Medical College.
45 volunteers of TDRF from the Malappuram, and Kozhikode districts participated in the rescue operation.

हादसे का कारण नदी की गहराई का अंदाजा न होने पर पानी का बहाव था।
जल्द ही आसपास के नाविकों ने चार लोगों को बचा लिया लेकिन जौहर और मोहम्मद नभान खतरे में थे।
सूचना मिलते ही स्थानीय लोगों ने टीडीआरएफ सिविल डिफेंस, ट्रॉमा केयर और फायर फोर्स में भी खोजबीन की लेकिन कोई नतीजा नहीं मिला।
पंथिरकाव के टीडीआरएफ स्वयंसेवक कबीर के नेतृत्व में संगम नाव में एक खोज के दौरान सुबह लगभग 8 बजे मुहम्मद नभान पाया गया।
बाद में स्थानीय लोगों की एक अन्य नाव से दूसरा शव मिला।
मिचांटा फायर फोर्स स्कूबा टीम पहुंची और तलाशी ली। शव को कोझिकोड मेडिकल कॉलेज में स्थानांतरित कर दिया गया।
मलप्पुरम, कोझिकोड जिलों से टीडीआरएफ के 45 स्वयंसेवकों ने बचाव अभियान में भाग लिया।
