Sharvanth Saravana: The Remarkable 14-year old Literary Prodigy
Sharvanth’s ascent to become a record-holding author at the age of 14, despite his initial lack of interest in books, is an exceptional and motivating story.
Being the author of a detective adventure series at the tender age of 14 is no small feat, but reaching such a milestone with an initial dislike of reading books is incredible. This incredible task has been accomplished by Sharvanth Saravana, a young boy from Chennai.
When Sharvanth Saravanan was seven years old in 2016, he was eagerly awaiting a gift from his father’s friend. However, he was disappointed to receive a set of two books: Param Vir Chakra and Jataka Tales. These books remained untouched on his shelf for several months. “One day as I was watching TV, something struck me. I turned it off and went straight towards the two books on my shelf, and started reading, only to fall in love with both of them, one after the other,” shared the remarkable storyteller, Sharvanth, who has devoured over 500 books in the last seven years.
Sharvanth is now studying in the eighth grade of Sunshine SSM and also has authored and published 3 incredible books. Sharvanth’s father, who is an Amazon employee, encouraged him to use his knowledge and creativity to write his first book during the pandemic when he was just 11 years old. The result was a literary masterpiece called ‘The Abysmal Thief and Other Stories’. The book follows the adventures of Rohan, a charming private detective who uses his intelligence and composure to solve mysteries and fight against foes.
Every year since 2020, Sharvanth has successfully published a new book to keep up with the new adventures of the brilliant detective. His second and third books, “The Devious Person” and “The Magical Blitz” respectively have also seen an enormous bloom in his writing career. Saravanth’s contributions to the literary world imprinted his name in the India Book of Records as the youngest author of a detective adventure series in 2022. This was followed by one more excellent recognition from the prestigious Asia Book of Records, which conferred the title of Grand Master for writing a trilogy of fiction at the age of 13.
Sharvanth’s accomplishments go beyond his writing skills. He is regarded as an inspiration and was invited to present a keynote address at IIT Delhi on July 22, 2023.
Today Sharvanth stands as a passionate advocate for cultivating reading culture among youngsters and believes it can reveal the hidden potential of curious minds. There’s no doubt that he’s a brilliant star shining brightly in the literary world’s future sky.
