New Delhi: Union home minister Amit Shah on Sunday described AAP as ‘Aawaidh Aamdaniwali Party’, and alleged that the party did nothing but spread lies to get votes and indulged in corruption under Arvind Kejriwal‘s leadership during its 10-year rule in Delhi.
Addressing a public meeting in Narela assembly constituency, Shah also accused Kejriwal and AAP of insulting Poorvanchalis in Delhi with their comments, besides alleging misgovernance in the capital under AAP’s watch.
Shah, campaigning for BJP candidate Rajkaran Khatri, alleged that AAP govt and Kejriwal had not cleaned the Yamuna, nor addressed the dirty drinking water problem or the alleged liquor scam. “On Feb 8, Delhi will be free of the ‘AAPda’. Kejriwal’s mismanagement will come to an end. In the last 10 years, Delhi has gone from bad to worse. While several other parts of the country have progressed, Delhi has to face dirty water and waterlogging,” Shah said.
He asked the people to give BJP one chance on Feb 8 (the day of the result). “Kejriwal said Yamuna will be cleaned. Chatt ghats will be clean. Can you take a dip in the river? This promise was not fulfilled by them. This is because ‘Awaidh Aamdani Party’ fights elections in Punjab and Goa after making money in Delhi,” he said.
Shah asked people to vote for Khatri and BJP, promising that Delhi will be made the Number One capital city.
He said that if BJP wins “we promise that within the two years, Delhi will be freed of Bangladeshis and Rohingya”.
“Anna Hazare hadn’t even reached Ralegaon Siddhi, and Kejriwal made a govt. We don’t have a problem with that. But what he actually did was construct a Rs 51-crore sheesh mahal, demolishing four houses. Inside, there are Rs 70 lakh worth of doors, 16 smart TVs, Rs 50 lakh spent on carpets, and Rs 10 lakh on recliner sofas. Do any of you have these?” he asked.
“Kejriwal said Poorvanchalis come to Delhi with a Rs 500 ticket and get health treatment worth Rs 5 lakh. I appeal to the people to give a resounding response to Kejriwal. BJP promises Rs 10 lakh worth of health treatment, don’t worry… ‘AAPda’ jane waali hai, BJP aane wali hai,” Shah said.
He also referred to Cong ‘s press conference where it had played an audio clip, purportedly of AAP’s Narela MLA Sharad Chauhan. In the clip Chauham is alleged to have claimed that he had cautioned Manish Sisodia that the AAP’s liquor policy would lead to a proliferation of liquor shops, but Sisodia brushed him aside saying that party needed money for polls in Punjab, Goa and Gujarat. Shah told his audience that AAP was yet to refute Chauhan and Congress.
The home minister listed BJP’s promises for Delhi. “In three years, the Yamuna riverfront will be established after coming to power on Feb 8. PM Narendra Modi has done several works for the country. In Delhi, we promise to increase the widow pension. We have promised financial aid to pregnant women, monthly allowance for women, free education from KG to PG,” Shah said.
Yogender Chandolia, BJP MP in North West Delhi, said: “While Hazare went back, he left such insects (referring to Kejriwal) back here.”
AAP later said that from Shah’s speeches, it was clear BJP had conceded defeat. “Their focus is on abusing Kejriwal, not Delhi’s development. BJP neither has a plan nor a vision for Delhi. Shah must answer what BJP has done to improve Delhi’s law and order,” AAP said.
