Disgraced music mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, who is behind bars at the Metropolitan Detention Centre, Brooklyn since his arrest in September on the charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, and more, has sent a cease and desist order from jail. He took this action against the release of a new documentary about his one-time protégé, Shyne. A source close to Sean and the film confirmed that the order was sent from jail.
According to the Page Six report, a source told them that Diddy’s cease and desist order was never aimed to block the documentary release; rather, his only concern has been to ensure that every fact is shown right.
The documentary has come to light after Shyne alleged that 25 years ago, he was thrown under the bus for a deed Diddy did.
For the unversed, Shyne’s name was involved in a shooting at a Manhattan nightclub in 1999, where he was present with his boss, Diddy, and his then-girlfriend, Jennifer Lopez. A fight broke out at the club, which led to a shooting that left three people hurt. Shyne and Diddy, both went to trial in 2001 for the case, but only the former was convicted of assault and reckless endangerment. Shyne served eight years in prison for a crime that he says wasn’t actually committed by him.
In the documentary that has been served with the cease and desist order, Shyne highlights how Diddy is being exposed today. Further, regarding the 1999 Manhattan nightclub shooting, Shyne feels he was made a “scapegoat” for Sean Diddy Combs.
“Because when I said it [at the time], everyone was partying and having a great time with Diddy while I was left to rot in prison,” shared Shyne, who currently is a politician in Belize. The documentary will chronicle the events that show Shyne’s journey from rapping to a career in politics.
While promoting the film in an interview Shyne shared how he believed he was trying to protect Sean and at the same time, he was the one who had to pay the price of his loyalty. “[Sean Diddy Combs] got witnesses to testify against me, to say that basically I was this uncontrollable person that was acting in a depraved manner, which was the furthest from the truth.”
Meanwhile, Diddy’s rep says that Sean has categorically denied all the allegations made by Shyne. “Mr Combs was acquitted of all charges related to the [1999 incident] and has consistently maintained his innocence,” adding, “Mr. Combs appreciates the path Mr. Barrow has pursued and wishes him continued success. It is unfortunate that Mr. Barrow has chosen to revisit these allegations,” the rep told Page Six.
