Santosh Singh reacts to Vikrant Massey's decision to quit acting: 'It’s a fast-paced, high-pressure job' - Exclusive

Vikrant Massey has announced that he will be taking a break from acting. In a social media post, Vikrant revealed his desire to ‘recalibrate’ and focus on his personal life as a husband, father, and son. This decision comes shortly after the release of his film The Sabarmati Report, which explores the aftermath of the 2002 Godhra train incident.
Despite his announcement, Vikrant is currently busy shooting for his next project, Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, a romantic drama marking Shanaya Kapoor’s debut. Directed by Santosh Singh, the film is based on Ruskin Bond‘s short story The Eyes Have It. Santosh Singh, who is directing the movie in Mussoorie, expressed surprise at Vikrant’s decision to step back from films. He stated that the actor remains fully committed to completing the project.
Speaking about Vikrant’s announcement, Santosh Singh told ETimes, “As a filmmaker, I think actors have incredibly demanding schedules, working around the clock. Vikrant has been doing great work, but sometimes you reach a point of saturation. That’s when you realize it’s time to slow down, recalibrate, and come back stronger.”
When asked about why actors feel the need to recalibrate, Santosh explained, “It happens because they’re working non-stop, constantly busy, and traveling. It’s a fast-paced, high-pressure job. Sometimes, you need to slow down, focus on quality projects, and take a breather.”

Santosh also confirmed that Vikrant plans to take his break after completing Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan and one additional project. He added, “We are in Mussoorie, shooting right now, and everything is going well. Vikrant has been working with us every day. Today, however, he’s in Delhi, attending the screening of The Sabarmati Report with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”

When asked if Vikrant had ever discussed his decision on set, Santosh responded, “No, nothing at all. We’ve been talking regularly, and I only learned about this today. Since then, my phone hasn’t stopped ringing.”
