Tarapur is the gateway to the fast-changing landscapes of Gandhinagar. Located a little away from the sprawling city that is gradually expanding into surrounding farmlands, Tarapur remains a predominantly farming village. However, with the Sarkhej–Gandhinagar Highway bringing increased attention and connectivity, the village is slowly becoming part of the growing urban landscape of Gandhinagar.
The Tarapur Pond, located to the north of the village, is surrounded by agricultural fields and farmlands. Years of neglect and poor maintenance led to the growth of invasive weeds, while erosion gradually weakened the pond’s structure. As part of the #BlueGreenGandhinagar initiative, E.F.I collaborated with the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation, with funding support from CAMS, to restore this important water body.
