Allu Arjun was arrested earlier today in connection with the tragic death of a female fan during the premiere of his film Pushpa 2: The Rule at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad. The actor has now been granted interim bail by the Telangana High Court, which stated that he has the fundamental rights to life and liberty. Many actors and politicians have reacted to the issue, asserting that the actor cannot be held responsible for the stampede that occurred in a public place such as a theatre. Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has now shared his first official statement with Etimes.
Ram said that it is ridiculous to blame Allu Arjun for the recent death of the woman at the premiere. “It’s ridiculous to blame a star for the unfortunate death of a woman in a stampede. Celebrities, by their very appeal, draw huge crowds, whether they are film stars, rock stars, political leaders, or even gods, for that matter,” he told Etimes.

He further questioned why only the Pushpa 2 star was held responsible and arrested in the matter, saying, “So, are all of them liable when it’s impossible for any of them to be in control of stampede-like situations?” RGV concluded.
Just after the news of Allu’s arrest shook the internet, Ram Gopal took to his Twitter handle to share his statement: “BREAKING NEWS: Many film stars have been diagnosed with a rare and strange disease called Pushpaitis 😳.”

After a complaint from the female fan’s husband, Bhaskar, a case was filed against Allu, his security team, and the theatre management at Chikkadpally Police Station based on the family’s complaint. Police have charged them under Sections 105 and 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Meanwhile, Allu has now been granted interim bail by the Telangana High Court. Many stars, including Pushpa 2 director Sukumar, Rana Daggubati, Allu’s uncle, actor Pawan Kalyan, and Chiranjeevi, have also visited his residence in Hyderabad to meet his family.
