Madhu Chopra recently shared that she and her husband, Ashok Chopra, didn’t expect their daughter Priyanka Chopra to win Miss World, so they planned a ‘consolation prize’ for her.
During a chat with Rodrigo Canelas on the podcast Something Bigger Show, Madhu praised her daughter Priyanka’s determination and hard work. She shared how Priyanka had never worn stilettos before and practiced walking by watching Fashion TV at night to improve her performance for the Miss India pageant.
The star mother also discussed the actress’ journey to Miss World, noting that it was the first time their family traveled abroad. She explained that they didn’t expect Priyanka to win, as the previous year’s Miss India had also been crowned Miss World, and they didn’t think the title could be won back-to-back.Madhu shared that, anticipating Priyanka’s potential loss, the family had planned a grand trip across Europe and America as a “consolation prize” for her. Despite the expensive tickets, they were excited about the journey and looked forward to spending quality time together.
She also shared that Priyanka’s father was concerned she would be very disappointed if she didn’t win, so they planned the trip as a special gift for her. However, when Priyanka won Miss World, they had to unexpectedly shorten their travel plans, much to their amusement.
