Dean Huijsen, Justin Kluivert and Antoine Semenyo all netted for the Cherries as the visitors registered a 3-0 win on the road to climb to fifth in the PL table.
Manchester United suffered a 0-3 defeat at the hands of Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Sunday in the Premier League as Dean Huijsen, Justin Kluivert and Antoine Semenyo all netted for the Cherries.
Amorim opted to start Andre Onan in goal behind the defensive three of Noussair Mazraoui, Harry Maguire and Lisandrao Martinez with Diogo Dalot and Tyrell Malacia on the flanks. Manuel Ugarte and Kobbie Mainoo held the middle of the park with Amad Diallo and Bruno Fernandes in attacking roles. Joshua Zirkzee was given the goal ahead at the top.
Andoni Iraola began Kepa Arrizabalaga in between the sticks with Milos Kerkez, Dean Huijsen, Illia Zabarnyi and Adam Smith in defence. Tyler Adams and Ryan Christie were deployed in holding roles with Antoine Semenyo, Justin Kluivert and Dango Ouattara ahead. Evanilson was the lines striker for the Cherries on the day.
United conceded yet again from a set piece as Christie swung one into the danger area from a free kick in an advanced position as Huijsen headed the ball into the net beyond a rooted Onana.
United had a couple of set pieces in quick succession as they tried to level the score, with Fernandes stepping up to take both free kicks, but the Cherries’ backline stood the test.
Fernandes had an opportunity to pull United back on level terms in the 49th minute as good work from Dalot and Diallo on the left set the Portuguese star up for a shot, which he ultimately pulled wide of the mark.
The United man had an attempt on target thwarted by Kepa seconds later as United remained in search of the leveller heading into the break.
Rasmus Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho were brought in as reinforcements by Amorim in the 54th minute of the game for Zirkzee and Ugarte as the home side went in search of their first goal of the game.
Mazraoui brought Kluivert down inside the penalty box as the man in the middle pointed to the spot without much hesitation. The Dutchman stepped up to put his side two ahead on the hour mark.
Semenyo added insult to injury as he found the back of the net two minutes after his teammate’s successful spot kick to bag his side’s third of the day.
