Mumbai: A police patrol team discovered a lifeless three-day-old boy wrapped in newspapers in a waste bin on Yari Road in Versova on Sunday.
The team noticed the dead infant on seeing crows congregating around it. The police registered a case against an unknown person for abandoning a deceased newborn boy.
A police officer said the discovery was made during a routine patrol. The police took the baby to hospital, where it was declared dead on arrival.
“A team has been formed to track down the person who dumped the newborn,” the officer said.
The team is reviewing local CCTV footage.
