Surat: City police commissioner Anupam Singh Gahlaut invoked Gujarat Prevention of Anti-social Activities (PASA) Act against two cyber offenders and two sexual harassment accused.
While one cyber offender was sent to Bhuj jail, another was sent to Rajkot jail.
Surat police had invoked PASA against six cyber offenders recently. According to police, more cyber offenders will be sent to jails under PASA soon.
The two accused sent to jail were Dilip Paghdal and Parth Savani. Both were involved in a Rs 20 crore scam in which they created many fake portals resembling a portion of a popular online shopping platform.
On Sunday, police also invoked PASA against 26 criminals. They included Nadim Shaikh and Prem Bhutiya, both involved in cases of sexual harassment of women.
Police also sent notorious criminal Salim Shaikh to jail under PASA. Shaikh faced animal cruelty cases at Limbayat and Chowk Bazar police stations.
PASA was also invoked against loan sharks Anas Mansuri and Jayprakash Sarang.
All 26 criminals were sent to Rajkot, Bhuj, Vadodara, and Ahmedabad jails.
