Parineeti Chopra and Raghav Chadha were heavily trolled for having a grand wedding at the beautiful Leela Palace in Udaipur in 2023. The couple has now spoken out, saying the negative rumours about their wedding are untrue and a wrong narrative.
The couple addressed the trolling during an appearance on Aap Ki Adalat with Rajat Sharma. Raghav cleared up the rumours about booking expensive rooms for their wedding. He explained that they got married at a 5-star hotel, not a 7-star one. He also clarified that 40-50 rooms were booked for their guests, and none of the rooms cost Rs 10 lakh, as claimed.
Parineeti also pointed out the double standards she faced since making her relationship with Raghav official. She explained that if she had married an actor, producer, or businessman, people would have praised the grand wedding. However, since she married a politician, the narrative shifted, with people assuming that Raghav covered all the expenses and couldn’t afford such a lavish ceremony. She noted that this kind of trolling is more common among voters and fans, while in her world, people celebrate their happiness, but Raghav’s world tends to be more critical.
Parineeti further shared that her finances have been closely scrutinized since her wedding. She mentioned that before the marriage, if she bought a house or a car, it was normal. However, after the wedding, people assumed she could no longer spend freely, simply due to perception.
Parineeti reflected on the criticism, pointing out that people often forget they are commenting on personal lives, which can be hurtful. She shared that while people from her world (films) were happy for them, those from Raghav’s world (politics) were more critical of their marriage.
