Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government has formed a comprehensive schedule to directly recruit 82,675 employees over the next decade across 18 departments, while recruitment deliberations for eight departments, including education and health and family welfare, are ongoing. Officials saythe final tally may approach approximately 1.5 lakh new employees in the state government over the next ten years.
While recruitments in 18 departments for the next decade have been finalized, consultations continue to determine the recruitments of eight departments. The aggregate number of direct recruitments is anticipated to reach 1.5 lakh, officials said.
Of the 18 departments where recruitment of 82,675 employees has been finalized, the home department accounts for over 50%. The govt has sanctioned the appointment of 43,389 personnel in the home department over the next ten years.
The departments where deliberations are ongoing include the labour, skill development and employment department, urban development and urban housing department, panchayats, rural housing and rural development department, industries and mines department, sports, youth and cultural activities department and remaining cadres of the health department. Departments still awaiting initial consultations include the energy and petrochemicals department and the education department.
“We anticipate that deliberations and recruitment for all remaining departments shall be determined within the next few weeks. Aggregate direct recruitments in is expected to surpass 1 lakh,” said a senior government official associated with the exercise. The official clarified that these figures represent direct recruitments into govt service, excluding positions filled through outsourcing mechanisms.
Officials elaborated, “All recruitment agencies including GPSC (Gujarat Public Service Commission), GSSSB (Gujarat Subordinate Services Selection Board) etc, shall adhere to a year-wise recruitment plan and GAD will monitor progress on recruitment against the ten-year schedule.”
Among the 82,675 appointments finalized, the majority are Class 3 positions (78,241). In Class 2, 3,950 new recruitments will be executed and 484 Class 1 employees will be appointed, govt sources confirmed.
