About the Organiser
The Centre for Consumer Law Research and Practice at National Law University, Jodhpur is dedicated to advancing research in the field of consumer laws.
In light of evolving challenges in the current times, the Centre seeks to bridge the gap between theory and practice through research, policy engagements and advancing the understanding of consumer rights and consumer dispute redressal mechanisms.
The Centre aims to foster research and critical engagement in consumer law through academic writing, policy discourse and interdisciplinary dialogue.
About the Event
In the age of increased consumer transactions transcending physical marketplaces and unfolding across various digital ecosystems, consumer law intersects with technology, behavioral economics, data governance and platform regulation.
It inevitably requires nuanced understanding, critical evaluation and interdisciplinary reasoning to identify and resolve contemporary issues in the field of consumer rights and consumer justice.
To further the same, the Centre for Consumer Law Research and Practice at National Law University, Jodhpur is organizing the 1st NLUJ-CCLRP National Essay Writing Competition, 2026 to commemorate the celebration of World Consumer Rights Day on 15th March, 2026.
The competition also aims to promote research writing that reflects scholarly rigor, creative thinking and a forward-looking vision for consumer law in the contemporary challenging times.

The list of themes is only indicative. Participants may make submissions on any theme within the purview of the broad theme of consumer protection.
Eligibility
The Competition is open to students pursuing a five-year or three-year law degree course.

Registration Procedure
The participants shall be required to register for the event by payment of registration fee (link provided at the end of the post) and then proceed to make the submission through an email.
The email should be sent to cclpr@nlujodhpur.ac.in with the following two attachments:
- The script (essay) in a Microsoft Word Document format (.doc/.docx).
- The registration fee payment receipt.
Detailed guidelines for submission and evaluation parameters are provided in the Brochure.
Registration Fee
The registration fee of the competition shall be Rs. 250 for individually authored entries and Rs. 500 for co-authored entries.
Registration fee once paid shall be non-refundable.
Prizes
The following cash prizes shall be awarded to the best three entries:
- First Position: Rs. 4000 & Certificate of Merit
- Second Position: Rs. 3000 & Certificate of Merit
- Third Position: Rs 2000 & Certificate of Merit
All participants making submissions shall be given an e-certificate of participation.
Important Dates
Deadline for Submission: 15th April, 2026.
Announcement of Results: 30th April, 2026.
