A decisive shift places National Law University Delhi on the global map of legal education.

NLU Delhi has entered the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026 in Law & Legal Studies, securing a position in the 201–250 band globally, with an overall subject rank of 223. In a field where nearly 1,800 institutions were assessed and only about 400 found a place, this entry marks a clear recognition of institutional depth and global credibility. Only eight institutions from India feature in this list, and among the National Law Universities, only NLSIU Bengaluru ranks higher, placing NLU Delhi firmly within the top tier of legal education in the country. What makes this achievement distinctive is not just the rank, but the nature of the entry. As a new entrant, NLU Delhi has moved directly into a competitive global band, reflecting a strong composite performance across academic reputation, employer perception, research citations, H-index, and international research networks.

Over the past years, the University has steadily strengthened its research architecture, increased high-quality indexed publications per faculty, expanded cross-border academic collaborations, and improved its visibility in global academic surveys. These are not incremental shifts. They represent a deliberate institutional design aimed at aligning scholarship, teaching, and policy engagement with global benchmarks. The result is a profile that now speaks beyond national boundaries. This recognition does not signal an endpoint. It sets a sharper trajectory. The task ahead is to consolidate gains, deepen research impact, and expand meaningful global engagement while continuing to produce work that shapes law, justice, and public policy.

Prof. (Dr.) G.S. Bajpai, Vice Chancellor, NLU Delhi has expressed his gratitude to the top leadership, faculty, staff, students and all other stakeholders for their continued contributions and support.
