Debutant Nitanshi Goel made a mark for herself with her first film Laapataa Ladies as protagonist Phool. The film was backed by Aamir Khan, and directed by Kiran Rao, and it is now India’s official entry for Oscars 2025.

The actress in an exclusive interview with ETimes at IFFI opened up about how the film has changed her life. She said , “ The film has completely changed my life for the better. What more could I have asked for; it was backed by Aamir Khan Productions, I had a beautiful character, and it was loved by the audience which is what an actor dreams of. And now, we also have become India’s entry for Oscars, so I just have a request for everyone to pray that we get the Oscars this year.”
The actress also opened about how she’s choosing her next films, she said, “Choosing the films from now on is tough. I was happy when the films were choosing me. Dil pe patthar rakh ke choose karna padta hai, as all the stories coming to me are so beautiful but hopefully a beautiful film is coming your way soon.”
Nitanshi also shared the compliments that came her way for her performance as Phool in the film. She said, “ There were many beautiful compliments that came my way, many of them touched my heart and many made me emotional. One of them was that my character told many ladies’ story and if Phool could make it, then anybody can. Also some very good people in the industry said that my voice resembled Sridevi Ma’am – which is like a huge huge thing for me and my performance resembled Kangana Ranaut’s character from the film Queen.”
Laapataa Ladies also starred Ravi Kishan, Pratibha Ranta and Sprash Srivastava.
