Niranjan Singh vs State Of Punjab on 17 February, 2026


1. This is first petition for bail filed by the petitioner with regard to a

case arising out of FIR No.49 dated 16.11.2023 under Sections 21, 25, 29 of

Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, hereinafter being

referred to as ‘NDPS’ only [Section 25 of Arms Act 1959 and Section 201 of

Indian Penal Code 1860 added later on], Police Station SSOC Amritsar [case

transferred to District Tarn Taran District Tarn Taran. The above-mentioned

FIR came into being at the instance of ASI Gurpinder Singh, who had received

a tip-off from a reliable source, who told him that Gurpreet Singh @ Billa

lodged in Central Jail, Jammu had formed a group with Niranjan Singh, and

that they were involved in inter state smuggling of Heroin. According to

above-mentioned information few days ago Niranjan Singh had received a big

consignment of Heroin, and that on the instructions of Gurpreet Singh, he was
