NLU Delhi Announces New Appointments to Project 39A
National Law University Delhi is pleased to announce the appointment of Shri Sanjay Vashishtha, Advocate, Supreme Court of India, as Executive Director and Dr. Pupul Dutta Prasad, serving IPS Officer, as Honorary Director of Project 39A.
Project 39A, a premier centre of NLU Delhi, has been at the forefront of advancing the values of equal justice and equal opportunity, inspired by Article 39-A of the Constitution of India. Through rigorous empirical research, it engages with key issues in the criminal justice system, including legal aid, torture, forensics, mental health in prisons, and the death penalty, while contributing to evidence-based legal policy and systemic reform.
These appointments further strengthen the leadership of Project 39A and reaffirm NLU Delhi’s continued commitment to advancing justice through research, dialogue, and institutional engagement.
