NDMC has a 470km network of water supply lines. Phase I, focusing on Vinay Marg area, will cover govt accommodations, Sewa Basti, markets, offices and other prominent accommodations. NDMC vice-chairman Kuljeet Chahal had earlier said the plan includes replacement of pipes and fixing leakages, equal distribution of water supply, installation of additional pipes.
Setting a target of Dec 2026 to achieve 100% renewable energy-based electricity supply, NDMC has signed an MoU with Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) to receive 200 MW of solar power over 25 years. Work is in progress on two more projects.
The budget may see updates on the Gole Market redevelopment and night cleaning in other markets. NDMC had launched a pilot project for night cleaning and washing in Khan Market area. The drive, scheduled daily between 1 and 4 am, will be extended to Sarojini Nagar market soon. The council plans to acquire more equipment and hire dedicated personnel and might come up with a proposal in the budget.
The budget session will be followed by the monthly council meeting sessions, wherein pending proposals will be tabled. A proposal for appointing an agency for maintenance of public and community toilets in lieu of erecting advertisements and another proposal related to hiring agencies for lifting garbage will be tabled. “The tenure for the concessionaire collecting waste is getting over, so we need to initiate the process for inviting tenders,” said an official.
