Nana Patekar had found himself amidst a controversy a while ago as he slapped a fan who came to meet him on the sets of his film ‘Vanvaas’. The actor was in the middle of shot when the fan intruded and asked him for a selfie. Nana regrets slapping the person and as he reflects on it, he feels it was wrong. However, in a recent interview, he has shared his reasons for doing so.
The actor reflected on it during a chat with News18 and said, “One person had come, it had become a controversy. I slapped him, however, it was wrong. He came out of love. He didn’t know that we were in between a shot. He came in between the shots and tried to take a selfie. I slapped him, which was wrong. But there is a place to express your love for a person. (If he had) come after I have completed the shot, I won’t have an issue. But at that, it became a big controversy.”
Anil Sharma who is the director of ‘Vanvaas’ also reflected on this incident and shared that now a days it’s difficult to shoot in a scenario where everything goes on social media. “It becomes very difficult. Your shots get copied, audience shares videos on Twitter (now known as X) and Instagram. We have to then get them removed. It is an additional task. We have to set up a separate digital team to pull the videos now.”
He added, “It is a task but what to do, people show their love, we live in this world and work for fans, make films for fans. Such incidents (of filming and leaking scenes) happened during the making of Gadar 2, it happened during the making of Vanvaas too. It’s part of the game.”
‘Vanvaas’ is set for release on December 20.
