After coldest Dec day in Mumbai, temp rises to 18C may touch 20C on Wed

Mumbai: Minimum temperatures in Mumbai reached 18 degrees on Tuesday after dropping to 13.7 degrees Celcius a day earlier. IMD officials said that the rise was expected due to fluctuations in wind directions. In its forecast, the IMD indicated that minimum temperatures might further rise, reaching 20 degrees Celcius on Wednesday.
“The low-pressure area over the southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining east Equatorial Indian Ocean became more marked and lay as a well-marked low-pressure area over the southwest and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal on December 10. As a result, easterly winds are likely to lead to a rise in temperatures,” said an IMD official.
On Tuesday, minimum temperatures recorded by the IMD Santacruz observatory were 18 degrees, which was 0.8 degrees below normal, while the Colaba observatory recorded 20.8 degrees, which was 0.9 degrees above normal. The maximum temperature recorded by the IMD Santacruz observatory was 31.8 degrees.
The all-time lowest minimum temperature recorded for Mumbai was 10.6 degrees on December 20, 1949.
