Manu Bhaker : Born in 2002 in Goria village of Jhajjar district in Haryana, Bhaker graduated from Lady Shri Ram College For Women–Delhi University (LSR–DU), where she bagged a degree in BA (Hons) Political Science – Manu Bhaker

Manu Bhaker, the Olympian who is representing India in shooting, won two bronze medals at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. This year, she opened the Indian account in the Paris 2024 Olympics by winning a bronze in the women’s 10-metre air pistol event, making her the first woman shooter from India to win a medal at any Olympics. Following this, she bagged another bronze in the 10m air pistol mixed event where she partnered with Sarabjot Singh.

Born in 2002 in Goria village of Jhajjar district in Haryana, Bhaker graduated from Lady Shri Ram College For Women (Delhi University) (LSR–DU), where she bagged a degree in BA (Hons) in Political Science. Currently, she is pursuing a degree in Public Administration at Punjab University.

In the NIRF ranking 2023, Punjab University is at number 25 while Delhi University is placed at the 11th position in the top universities category. LSR is among the reputed colleges in India grabbing 9th position in the top colleges category

Like her academic profile, Bhaker’s professional profile has been impressive too. Her first taste of success was when she won a silver medal at the 2017 Asian Junior Championships. Following this, the Haryana-girl scored nine gold medals at the 2017 National games held at Kerala and defeated multiple World Cup medalist Heena Sidhu. She also broke Sidhu’s record of 240.8 points, scoring 242.3 points in the final.

She followed her winning strike by winning a gold medal in the Women’s 10-meter air pistol at the 2018 International Shooting Sport Federation World Cup held at Guadalajara, Mexico. Bhaker achieved this only at the age of 16.

Since then, she has won several other championships such as 2018 Commonwealth Games, 2018 Asian Games, Youth Olympics 2018, ISSF World Cup 2019, and more. In May 2019 she qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the 10m pistol event via a fourth place finish at the Munich ISSF World Cup. Also, she won the team gold for India in the women’s 25m pistol team event at the 2022 Asian Games.
