Priyanka Chopra established her production house, Purple Pebble Pictures, in 2015, focusing primarily on regional films. The banner has produced over 10 movies in languages such as Bhojpuri, Marathi, Punjabi, Nepali, Assamese, Hindi, and English. Notably, two of its projects, Ventilator and Paani, received National Film Awards. Recently, Priyanka’s mother, Madhu Chopra, revealed that the production house was originally conceived as a backup plan for Priyanka.
Speaking on Something Bigger Show, Madhu shared, “When she decided to work in Hollywood, when she got that opportunity, I told her, ‘You are here at the peak of your career, and you want to go to the US and start struggling from bottom up, so we should have something to fall back here. So don’t just abandon everything and go. If you will have something here, you will feel confident and won’t be worried.’ That’s how we started Purple Pebble Productions. It was more like our plan B.”

Priyanka soon found success in Hollywood, and Purple Pebble Pictures became a platform to nurture new talent. Madhu elaborated, “But when she did well there, Purple Pebble Pictures also flourished. She thinks very differently. Our production house only makes regional films. She had the platform and voice, so she did it. She has decided to give opportunities to newcomers, and all our films have a newcomer, be it a writer, director, or actor. She had it hard, so she wants to give a platform to others.”
Priyanka has also produced films like The Sky Is Pink and The White Tiger under her banner. She starred in both films, with The Sky Is Pink marking her last Bollywood appearance. The White Tiger, co-starring Adarsh Gourav and Rajkummar Rao, was released directly on Netflix and earned critical acclaim.
