Madhadeori (मधादोरी) is a village in the Katni district of Madhya Pradesh, situated south of the Lipri Tank. The village’s history is little known, except it has ruins of an early medieval temple.
Temple Ruins — These ruins are scattered east of the Lipri Tank. The debris suggests that a grand temple once stood. Fragments of images lie among the rubble. Among these are those of Ganesha, Parvati, Mahishasuramardini, Kartikeya, etc., along with the remains of lingas, suggesting that the temple was dedicated to Shiva. Multiple lingas also indicate more than one temple at the site. The locals refer to this temple as Vamana Temple. Nothing with certainty could be said about the date or structure of the temple; however, as the region witnessed considerable temple construction activity during the Kalachuri period, these temple ruins thus could be attributed to them around the 10th-11th century CE.
