About the Organisation
Urbanic & Savana are next-generation fashion and lifestyle brands focused on creating trendy products for the modern consumer. With a strong digital-first approach, we operate in a fast-paced, high-growth environment where innovation, agility, and customer experience are central to the business. We work with a wide network of partners including vendors, logistics providers, influencers, marketing agencies, and technology platforms to deliver seamless fashion experiences to its customers.
The company is currently looking for a Legal Associate with 3–5 years of post-qualification experience who can contribute to the company’s commercial contracting, regulatory compliance, and dispute management functions.
About the Role
The Legal Associate will support the organisation’s commercial, regulatory, and dispute-related legal requirements. The role requires strong contract drafting and negotiation skills, sound legal judgement, and the ability to collaborate closely with business teams in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of legal matters including commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, consumer disputes, and cross-functional advisory. The ideal candidate should be comfortable handling matters independently while also partnering with internal stakeholders to deliver practical and business-oriented legal solutions.
Roles and Responsibilities
1. Contract Management & Negotiation
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements including vendor agreements, service agreements, warehousing contracts, leasing agreements, influencer and marketing collaborations, NDAs, and partnership contracts.
- Identify potential legal risks within agreements and propose practical mitigation strategies.
- Provide business teams with clear fallback positions during negotiations.
- Ensure all contracts are aligned with internal policies, compliance requirements, and the company’s risk appetite.
2. Regulatory & Compliance Support
- Support the organisation in complying with applicable laws including consumer protection laws, data protection requirements, e-commerce regulations, and other relevant sector-specific regulations.
- Assist in updating internal policies, processes, and contract templates to reflect evolving regulatory requirements.
- Track regulatory developments and analyse their potential impact on the business.
3. Dispute & Consumer Matter Handling
- Manage consumer complaints, legal notices, and pre-litigation matters with the objective of early resolution and risk containment.
- Coordinate with external counsel where required and assist in the development of litigation strategies.
- Maintain proper documentation and response frameworks to reduce escalation and potential legal exposure.
4. Cross-functional Business Support
- Work closely with teams across business, operations, finance, and marketing to provide timely and practical legal inputs.
- Participate in internal discussions to support informed business decision-making while balancing legal and commercial considerations.
- Act as a proactive and solution-oriented legal partner to internal stakeholders rather than a purely advisory function.
Eligibility Criteria
- LL.B. degree from a recognised university.
- Enrolment with the Bar Council of India.
- 3–5 years of post-qualification experience, preferably in-house or in roles involving commercial advisory work.
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills with hands-on experience in commercial contracts.
- Good understanding of Indian laws relating to contracts, consumer protection, and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to assess legal risk pragmatically and communicate effectively with non-legal stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail, ownership mindset, and problem-solving skills.
