Government Law College Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala

GW5V+64, Barton Hill Rd, Barton Hill, Barton Hill Colony, Kunnukuzhy, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala 695035

Our college is in its 150th year, so it is one of the oldest law colleges in India. Our college has its own identity and beauty. We have more than 15 classrooms.

We have a huge collection of law books, considering this the oldest and vast law library in Kerala. We have a ground for playing sports like volleyball, cricket, etc. Our college provides a hostel for girls within its premises.

Rating: 3.75/5

Our college is rich in human resources. Our faculty members are very skilled, highly qualified, and educated. Their knowledge is a treasure for the students.

Attendance is strict, as it will affect our internal marks. Our classes are usually from 9 am to 3 pm.

The students in our college are really talented, whether it is for educational purposes or the arts. We have great actors who have won many prizes in youth festivals, as well as dancers, singers, etc.

Along with that, students from our college have won many prizes in Moot Court Competitions, MUNs, Negotiation Competitions, Paper Presentations, etc.

We have a list of clubs, including NCC, National Service Scheme (NSS), Placement Cell, Bhoomitrasena Club for the environment, Moot Court Society, Legal Aid Clinic, Malayalam Club, MUN Club, etc. We have a law fest, and every year we conduct internal conferences and reputed moot court competitions.

Our college also excels in the field of culture and arts. We have won many dance, singing, and drama competitions. Apart from that, we also have many stars in sports, including a national champion.

Our placement committee is very active, and we are able to provide students with internship as well as placement opportunities in reputed institutions like UST Global, Infosys, IBM, IBS, etc.

The college provides facilities for a ladies’ hostel within the premises of the college.

Our college has its own legacy, and the knowledge and experience gained from the college are very helpful for our personal and professional lives.

As the college is in its 150th year, it lacks some infrastructure.

Our college was established on 31-01-1875. Many dignitaries like Rasool Pookutty, the first female Supreme Court Judge, Justice. Fathima Beevi; Anna Chandy, former Judge of the High Court of Kerala (first female judge and later the first female High Court judge in India);

N. R. Madhava Menon, former Central Secretariat Service officer, founder of the National Law School of India University and West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, and former Director of the National Judicial Academy (India); Annie Mascarene, member of the Constituent Assembly of India and the First Lok Sabha, etc., are some of our notable alumni.
