Kartik Aaryan recently spoke to GQ India about the box-office clash between ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ and Rohit Shetty‘s much-anticipated cop drama ‘Singham Again’, revealing that the makers of ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ had genuinely requested the makers of ‘Singham Again’ to consider postponing their release date. It so happened that the two were scheduled for the same Diwali day, where competitions are high at the box office, and both stood tall to conquer the cinema halls.
According to Aaryan, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ was planned to release during Diwali way before ‘Singham Again’ and had had sealed its date. With that high profile cop action film of Shetty, the ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ makers were being careful enough by showing the keen interest in not clashing with that but they did not move the date. Finally both the films landed up on the same day in theaters.
Despite the big clash with such a big multi-starrer like ‘Singham Again’, Aaryan said that neither he nor the team behind ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ were expecting it to do that well. The film was in excess of expectations and good at the box office, which helped during the festive season.
Ajay Devgn, who is featured in ‘Singham Again’, also spoke about the box-office clash in an interview with ANI earlier. He said that while everyone involved tried their best to avoid the clash of Diwali, it could not be avoided in the end. Devgn said he doesn’t like when films clash at the box office as it affects the industry, but added that the theme of ‘Singham Again’ was intrinsically tied to Diwali and hence couldn’t change the date. Despite the clash, however, the films were still doing fine, says Devgn of the outcome of such a conflict.
‘Singham Again’ director Rohit Shetty corroborates the news: he said that indeed his team has been trying hard not to get into this kind of situation but with the movie being a close and direct correlation with Diwali itself, there wasn’t an option for change.
‘Singham Again’ comes with an impressive ensemble star cast featuring Ajay Devgn, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Arjun Kapoor. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, on the other hand, comes with an excellent lineup, including Kartik Aaryan, Triptii Dimri, Vidya Balan, and Madhuri Dixit, among others. Both films have done well at the box office, a win for Bollywood during this highly competitive time of Diwali.
