BENGALURU: The state government has decided to constitute an expert panel comprising scientists and doctors to study the adverse impact of Covid-19 vaccine and recommend preventive measures.
Chief minister Siddaramaiah on Friday directed chief secretary Shalini Rajneesh to set up the committee and strictly implement its recommendations to prevent deaths and other risks that may be caused due to the adverse impact of the Covid-19 vaccine. The chief minister’s instruction came in response to a senior journalist, who had brought to his notice about the sudden deaths of many youths due to heart attack, cardiac arrest, neurological issues and blood clot in brain. The journalist in his email message to Siddaramaiah had said these incidents have triggered public discussion apart from putting families of the victims in financial distress.
“The government is very much concerned about the issue as there are reports about even children of the age group 10-12 years suffering heart attacks. While there is sporadic information about the side-effects of the Covid-19 vaccine , we want to get an authenticated study report and the expert panel is being constituted for the purpose,” said Dr H Ravikumar, medical advisor to CM.
The Centre has already commissioned a similar study and complaints from the public petitions being filed in the court. Some of the vaccine manufacturers have even admitted to the side effects such as Thrombosis with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome (TTS) which causes blood clots and low platelet counts. Some of these pharmaceutical companies are facing class-action lawsuits alleging serious injuries and deaths resulting from their vaccines.
