In Guna (Madhya Pradesh), the political landscape is heating up as Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for the 2024 general elections, Jyotiraditya Scindia, took a pointed swipe at former chief ministers Digvijaya Singh and Kamal Nath. Addressing a public gathering in Guna district, Scindia remarked that had he not intervened in the state’s governance, funds intended for the Ladli Behena scheme would have likely lined the pockets of Singh and Nath.
Highlighting the impact of his actions, Scindia emphasized that Ladli Behena beneficiaries now receive Rs 1250 monthly directly into their bank accounts, a stark contrast to the potential misappropriation he alleges would have occurred under the previous administration. Additionally, Scindia touted the benefits reaped by farmers under the Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme and lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s flagship initiatives such as Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana, and Ayushman Bharat Yojana.
However, Scindia’s assertions didn’t go unchallenged. Digvijaya Singh, responding to Scindia’s claims, questioned the circumstances surrounding the government’s change and criticized Scindia’s previous statements regarding his willingness to protest certain policies. Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Congress chief Jitu Patwari rebuffed Scindia’s assertions by highlighting persisting issues in the region, including malnutrition among children and inadequate access to basic amenities like drinking water.
As Guna braces for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, scheduled for May 7 alongside eight other parliamentary seats in Madhya Pradesh, the political rhetoric intensifies. With polling spread across four phases and counting slated for June 4, the state’s 29 Lok Sabha constituencies hold significant sway in national politics, reflecting its status as the sixth-largest state in terms of parliamentary representation.
As the campaign unfolds, the electorate grapples with contrasting narratives from opposing parties, each vying for their support and promising to address the pressing concerns of the region. Ultimately, the voters of Guna and Madhya Pradesh will decide the course of their representation in the corridors of power. #GunaElections #MadhyaPradeshPolitics #LokSabhaElections2024 #ScindiaVsCongress
