JSW Dulux Limited has received a tax demand of ₹14.76 crore from the Karnataka GST Department, significantly lower than the ₹101.09 crore proposed earlier, the company said in a regulatory filing on Wednesday.
“The said Order is open for further submissions to the relevant authorities, and the Company is currently under the process of responding to the same within the indicated timeframe,” JSW Dulux said in their filing.
The order, dated March 31, 2026, and received by the company on April 21, pertains to the disallowance of input tax credit for the period April 2019 to March 2020 under provisions of the CGST/SGST Act. The revised demand comprises tax of ₹4.81 crore, interest of ₹5.15 crore, and penalty of ₹4.81 crore.
The development follows a show-cause notice issued in June 2024 that had proposed a substantially higher levy, including penalties and interest. “As part of the GST Audit, a Show Cause Notice u/s 74 of CGST ACT/Rules, 2017 has been received mentioning disallowance of ITC and tax due for the period from April 2019 to March 2020 aggregating to ₹ 101.09 crore,” said the company in its June filing.
JSW Dulux said it had submitted detailed responses and supporting documents to the authorities within the stipulated time.
“The order is open for further submissions to the relevant authorities, and the company is in the process of responding within the indicated timeframe,” JSW Dulux said, indicating that it will contest the demand.
JSW Dulux, formerly Akzo Nobel India, is part of the JSW Group and operates in the decorative and industrial paints segment. The outcome of the proceedings will determine the final financial impact, if any, on the company.
