Rapper and business mogul Jay-Z has been accused of raping a 13-year-old girl with hip-hop star Sean Diddy Combs in the year 2000, court documents show. An updated complaint in a civil case against Combs alleges that Jay-Z, whose name is Shawn Carter, and Combs raped the girl at an after party following the MTV Video Music Awards in September of 2000, details of which have sent shockwaves through in the the entertainment industry.
While Jay-Z has vehemently denied the allegations, it has not stopped the widespread debate on social media on identifying the thrid celebrity who allegedly witnessed the assault. “Another celebrity stood by and watched as Combs and Carter took turns assaulting the minor. Many others were present at the after party, but did nothing to stop the assault,” the complaint reads.
“Carter has been with Combs during many such instances described herein. Both perpetrators must face justice.”
Jay-Z had originally been identified in the complaint as “Celebrity A”, the update lawsuit states, accusing Carter of filing a “frivolous” countersuit.
Amid this controversy, photos from the early 2000s featuring Jennifer Lopez and Diddy have resurfaced. The viral posts claim that images that capture an argument between Lopez and Diddy were from the said night.
The resurfaced photos have drawn mixed reactions from fans and netizens, with some speculating about their connection to the current allegations against Jay-Z. “Who was the famous female celebrity mentioned?” some asked, while others accused Jennifer, saying, “Jennifer Lopez? Are you kidding?”
Another said, “Tell me Beyoncé or JLo wasn’t there…”
It must be noted that no direct link between the two incidents has been established yet, and the context of the resurfaced photos remains unverified.
The allegations against Jay-Z come at a time when the music industry faces increasing scrutiny over misconduct allegations following Diddy’s arrest on charges including human trafficking and racketeering. The resurfacing of the Lopez and Combs photos highlights how past incidents and relationships are being re-examined in the light of current events.
Meanwhile, Jay-Z, has issued a statement, denying the allegations against him as ‘heinous in nature’. The rapper who is married to Beyonce and is a father of three kids – Blue Ivy Carter, Rumi Carter and Sir Carter – alleged he was being ‘blackmailed’.
“You have made a terrible error in judgement thinking that all ‘celebrities’ are the same,” Carter added in his statement Sunday. “I’m not from your world. I’m a young man who made it out of the project of Brooklyn. We don’t play these types of games. We have very strict codes and honor. We protect children.”
“My only heartbreak is for my family,” Carter said in the statement. “My wife and I will have to sit our children down, one of whom is at the age where her friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these claims, and explain the cruelty and greed of people. I mourn yet another loss of innocence.”
