First-Day Formalities, Infrastructure, and First Impression
The first day involved a smooth HR induction of all the interns in the conference room, followed by joining the respective teams after lunch.
The infrastructure is top-tier—modern, open-plan, and very professional. My first impression was that the firm operates with high precision; the atmosphere was busy, but the seniors were very sweet and welcoming.
Main Tasks
I was part of the General Corporate team. My primary tasks included conducting extensive legal research on Data Privacy regulations and Telecom licensing requirements.
I assisted in drafting due diligence reports for cross-border transactions and prepared research memos on the evolving Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act.
I also had the opportunity to review master service agreements and non-disclosure agreements, ensuring they aligned with the latest regulatory guidelines. The work was intellectually stimulating and required a high level of attention to detail.
Work Environment
The environment at AZB is fast-paced and excellence-driven. Despite the high pressure and long hours typical of a Tier-1 firm, the culture is quite collaborative. The associates are very sweet, approachable, and willing to explain the context of the tasks assigned.
There is a strong emphasis on the ownership of your work, meaning that even as an intern, you are expected to provide high-quality, client-ready research. It is a professional space that pushes you to sharpen your legal reasoning.
Good Things about the Internship
The quality of the work is the biggest highlight. I wasn’t just doing “busy work”; I was involved in research that actually impacted ongoing matters.
The exposure to the TMT sector was unparalleled, and the socializing with the associates and the partners was just amazing, and I gained a lot from listening to their perspectives and experiences.
Additionally, the feedback loop was constructive, helping me understand how to transition from academic writing to practical legal drafting.
Bad Things about the Internship
The workload can be quite intense, often leading to late evenings, which makes it difficult to maintain a work-life balance during the stint. Because the team is so busy, there were moments when I had to be very proactive to get my work reviewed or to seek additional guidance.

Details about the Accommodation, Commuting to the Office
I stayed at a flat in Lajpat Nagar. The travel was almost 30–35 minutes via the metro. I additionally used bike taxis for commuting. The area has plenty of food options and is well-connected by the Delhi Metro, making it convenient for an outstation student.
Anything else you want to share?
To chill out, I often explored the local cafes in Sector 18 with co-interns.
