March 2024

I applied through my friend’s recommendation, whom I met during my previous Net Zero India internship.

The first-day formalities were very good, and the infrastructure was also great, but the first impression was not up to the mark. As I was the head of research in that internship, there was not much interaction with me, so I could not understand much about my mentors.

However, I had a lot of interaction with my researchers, which helped me understand who had how much knowledge. That was very great. Also, there was a panel discussion on environmental safety, and I spoke on that as well. People appreciated me for my thoughts and confidence in speaking.

My main task was to guide the researchers in conducting day-to-day qualitative research and to recheck their work, make corrections, and submit it further.

The work environment was not that good because they were giving a lot of work to the students, and they were also college-going students, so they couldn’t give that much time to research. But even then, there was pressure on me to submit more and more work daily.

There was a daily target of five blogs, 10 “Do You Knows,” and 3 case studies. There were a total of 10 students, but even collectively, they were not able to do that because of their college and studies.

The good things about that internship were that everyone was friendly. As I was the researcher, I had a lot of responsibilities, but as such, there was no strictness on me for my small mistakes. You can say sometimes I was not able to submit the work on time. They were also patient and behaved properly every time.

The bad things about the internship were that they wanted more and more work, and the work was increasing day by day.

They wanted both qualitative and quantitative work, so it was very hard for me to make the students submit that much work on a daily basis, especially when they were going to their classes and preparing for their exams, because everyone’s exams were in July, as most of them were in the IP University.

There was no monthly stipend for anyone. They had said that if your work was up to the mark, then you would be given payment according to your work.

There was no help with accommodation or commuting to the office. Since it was an online internship, we sometimes had to go to the office, but there was noarrangement for commuting from their side.

Yes, I learnt how to manage a team of 12 to 15 people, how to get the work done, how to motivate people, and lastly, I learnt research skills.
