International Law Firms Prepare for Middle East Evacuations Amid Rising Tensions, ETLegalWorld

Several major international law firms operating in the Middle East are helping their staff to prepare for possible evacuation after the escalation in the region since Saturday. These law firms operate multiple offices across the Gulf, employing hundreds of lawyers.

A spokesperson from Freshfields has told ETLegalWorld, “In light of current developments in the Middle East, we have implemented precautionary working arrangements across the region, including having our colleagues work from home.”

“All colleagues are safe, and client work continues as normal within the region and globally. We are monitoring the situation and are keeping the arrangements under review,” the spokesperson from Freshfields added.

Freshfields LLP is a British multinational law firm headquartered in London, England, operating through 28 offices in 17 jurisdictions across Asia, Europe, the Middle East and North America.

White & Case LLP, a New York City firm with 46 offices in 31 international jurisdictions, has also advised its staff to work from home, while also initiating security protocols.

“The safety and well-being of our people is our highest priority. We have instructed our people to work from home, following the guidance of local authorities to shelter in place,” said a spokesperson from White & Case.

“We have engaged our security protocols and are monitoring the situation in real time to ensure that our teams and our clients have the full Firm’s support,” the spokesperson added.
