International Conference on Contemporary International Legal Order Concludes with Eminent Valedictory Ceremony at University of Delhi


New Delhi, February 24, 2026 — Law Centre-II, University of Delhi successfully concluded the International Conference on “The Contemporary International Legal Order: Prospects for India” with a distinguished Valedictory Ceremony held on February 24, 2026 at Umang Bhawan, University of Delhi.

The valedictory session was graced by Hon’ble Mr. Justice J. K. Maheshwari, Judge, Supreme Court of India, as the Chief Guest, who delivered insightful remarks on India’s evolving role in shaping international legal norms and the judiciary’s responsibility in strengthening rule-based global order. His address underscored the importance of constitutional values, judicial independence, and India’s growing engagement with international law frameworks.

The Distinguished Address by Sr. Prof. V. K. Ahuja, Director, Indian Law Institute, offered a scholarly perspective on contemporary challenges confronting international law and the need for academic-policy synergy.

The ceremony also featured addresses by Prof. (Dr.) A. P. Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow, and Dr. Aniruddha Rajput, Former Member, United Nations International Law Commission, as Guests of Honour, both of whom emphasized India’s intellectual contribution to international legal discourse and the relevance of multilateralism in a rapidly changing world order.

The session commenced with a Welcome Address by Prof. (Dr.) Anupam Jha, Professor-in-Charge, Law Centre-II, who reflected on the conference’s academic deliberations and its objective of fostering informed dialogue on global legal developments.

The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Pinki Sharma, Conference Director and Professor at Law Centre-II, acknowledging the contributions of speakers, delegates, organizing committee members, and participants for making the conference a meaningful academic success.

The conference brought together academics, jurists, diplomats, researchers, and students to deliberate on pressing issues concerning international law, India’s global legal responsibilities, and future pathways for reform and engagement.
