India’s Next Historical Event is Set Forth in The Global South Summit
India will virtually host the 2nd Voice of Global South Summit from November 17. The summit aims to bring together leaders and experts worldwide to discuss pressing issues and challenges faced by countries in the Global South. Topics of discussion will include economic development, social justice, and environmental sustainability. It will also provide an opportunity to exchange ideas, share best practices, and explore new solutions to advance the interests of the Global South.
“The challenges posed by global developments are also likely to be discussed,” recorded in a statement. The Voice of Global South Summit will be a platform to discuss sustainable ways to counter challenges, “momentum generated towards our common aspiration of a more inclusive, representative and progressive world order,”
The 2nd VOGSS promises to be a valuable forum for exchanging ideas and insights on the world’s pressing issues today and will focus on sharing the key outcomes achieved in various G20 meetings during India’s Presidency. It will allow countries of the Global South to learn about the results of these meetings and their implications for the world order. Additionally, the Summit will provide a platform for discussing the challenges posed by global developments. Notably, the event will also likely sustain the momentum generated towards the common aspiration of building a more inclusive, representative, and progressive world order. Discussions will center around ways to achieve this goal and how to ensure that progress is made towards progression.
In addition to the main summit, the event will feature eight ministerial sessions, each with a specific focus. Two of these sessions will be led by foreign ministers and center around the themes of “India and the Global South: Emerging together for a better future” and “Global South and one Development.” The finance ministers’ session will focus on “Financing people-centric development,” while the education ministers’ session will explore the topic of “Making human resources future ready.” These sessions are expected to provide valuable insights and discussion on critical issues related to development and cooperation.
“Together, for everyone’s growth, with everyone’s trust,” while the concluding leaders’ session is “Global South: Together for one future.”
On November 22, G20 leaders will meet virtually to discuss important decisions made at the G20 Summit in September. The focus of this meeting will be to follow up on the development agenda and address other pressing global issues, including the ongoing geopolitical challenges arising from the Ukraine conflict and the Israel-Hamas conflict. Additionally, the Indian government has announced a new initiative called “Aarogya Maitri” to provide medical supplies to developing countries affected by natural disasters.
