The latest National Family and Health Survey-5 (NFHS-5) data highlights this positive trajectory. Modern contraceptive usage has seen a significant increase, rising from 47.8 per cent in 2015-16 (NFHS-4) to 56.5 per cent in 2019-21. This nearly 10 per cent growth reflects the country’s ongoing efforts to expand access to and awareness of contraceptive options. Additionally, the unmet need for family planning has shown a notable decline, dropping from 12.9 per cent to 9.4 per cent during the same period.
