Diallo brought out the chill guy reference as he disclosed what it meant to score against four-time defending champions Manchester City.
A late goal scored by Amad Diallo ensured a full three points for Manchester United in the Premier League derby against Manchester City. Josko Gvardiol had earned a lead for the reigning Premier League champions in the 36th minute. Bruno Fernandes scored in the 88th minute to bring Manchester United back into the contest. Diallo netted a 90th-minute winner to complete Manchester United’s late comeback at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday. It marked a first derby win for new Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim.
Speaking in the post-match interview with MUTV, Diallo brought out the chill guy reference as he disclosed what it meant to score against four-time defending champions Manchester City. “I would have preferred to celebrate this one at Old Trafford with a lot of fans, but I just celebrated like when I score every time. This is not a disrespect to City fans, I just wanted to celebrate my goals. I’m a chill guy, I just want to celebrate,” Diallo said.
An epitome of laid-back vibes, Chill Guy—a brown unbothered canine—made his debut on October 4, last year. Created by artist Philip Banks, Chill Guy is an illustration of a dog wearing a grey sweater, blue jeans and red sneakers.
Ivorian Diallo played on the right-hand side of the field and came up with a crucial performance to earn a much-needed win for Manchester United. The 22-year-old won the penalty which was converted by Fernandes late in the second half. In the 90th minute, Diallo came up with an intelligent finish to ensure Manchester United’s victory. The loss marked Manchester City’s dismal run of form extended to a win and eight defeats in the last 11 games.
Diallo has contributed with two goals and six assists so far in the Premier League this season. Overall, he has netted four goals this season for Manchester United.
Following the win against Manchester City, Manchester United now find themselves in the 13th spot in the Premier League standings with 22 points from 16 games. They are five points behind fifth-placed Manchester City in the league standings. In their next match, Manchester United will be up against Tottenham in the League Cup quarter-finals on Friday, December 20.
