New Delhi: AAP MLA from Rithala Mohinder Goyal was on Monday questioned for more than four hours in connection with a case involving a syndicate of illegal Bangladeshis. Some of the documents recovered from the Bangladeshi immigrants bore Goyal’s signature and seal.
According to police sources, Goyal arrived at the anti-auto theft squad office in Pushp Vihar after 3.30pm and was questioned till 8pm. The inquiry focused on the seal and signatures on the documents, they added. “Goyal will be questioned again,” said an officer.
In Dec, police busted an illegal immigration racket and arrested 11 people, including several Bangladeshi nationals. According to police, the suspects were involved in forgery and creating fake websites. “Investigation revealed they created fake Aadhaar cards, voter ID cards and other documents using forged IDs,” police had stated.
While scanning the documents, police had discovered a signature bearing the name of an AAP MLA. When police arrested the person who allegedly created the documents, they recovered documents allegedly featuring stamps and Goyal’s signature. Thereafter, two notices were sent to Goyal and his staff to join the investigation.
Slamming BJP, Goyal said, “People are ready to give all 70 seats to AAP. This has left BJP rattled. Their work is to spread hatred.”
“On Jan 11, I was served a notice, but it was circulated in the media even before it reached me. BJP’s X handle also had the notice beforehand. It seems it was prepared at BJP headquarters to convey a false message that Arvind Kejriwal is settling Bangladeshis in the country. But Kejriwal doesn’t do that. He is a patriot, which is why he formed govt in Delhi three consecutive times, and will form it a fourth time too.”
