July is going to be an exciting month for movie buffs as two of the most awaited Hollywood movies ‘Oppenheimer’ and ‘Barbie’ are all set to hit the big screens. Both these Hollywood starrer films will clash at the box office this Friday i.e. 21st July. Let us tell you that from the year 2020, Warner Bros. is distributing Universal films in India. Since the same studio is releasing both the films, they are making every effort to ensure that ‘Oppenheimer’ and ‘Barbie’ get the best exposure in the theatres.
According to sources, Warner Bros has told most of the theaters in the country that they will have to play both the films or else they will not get any film. Also, they have requested theaters to have an equal number of shows for ‘Oppenheimer’ as well as ‘Barbie’. Since the pre-bookings of the Hollywood movie ‘Oppenheimer’ have been very encouraging, the theater operators have had no problem in giving shows of the film. Though there were some reluctance in the minds of the theater operators regarding the movie ‘Barbie’, but the apprehensions have been dispelled after seeing the tremendous booking and response of this movie in some theatres.
Let us tell you that the movie will prove to be a big film for ‘Oppenheimer’ as it is releasing in IMAX and it also has a dubbed release in Hindi. The movie will release on around 700-800 screens while Barbie will get around 400 to 500 screens only. According to sources, this number may increase or decrease.
Although cinephiles are not happy about the ticket prices of these two Hollywood movies, especially the ticket price of the movie Oppenheimer, let us tell you that the most expensive tickets for these movies are being sold at PVR IMAX Lower Parel in Mumbai, where recliner seats cost Rs. 2,450, while the general tickets are Rs.760 and Rs.960 for the morning and midnight shows. While the reality is that the cheapest tickets for ‘Oppenheimer’ in other IMAX theaters in Mumbai city start from Rs.700 onwards. Usually the ticket price for other movies starts from Rs.250-300.
