New Delhi: It was a birthday that none of them would ever forget. For nearly two years, the parents of an eight-year-old mentally unstable boy lived a nightmare, searching for their beloved child who vanished into thin air. But on Dec 3, their prayers were finally answered. The child was found at an adoption agency in Ghaziabad.
The boy went missing from his house in Narela on the night of Feb 15, 2023, leaving behind only questions and fears. His mother lodged a police complaint at the Narela police station two days later. An FIR for the offence of abduction was subsequently registered.
“Police launched a massive search operation, scouring nearby places, police stations, bus terminals, railway stations, hospitals and shelter homes. However, despite their best efforts, no clue of the child’s whereabouts could be established,” said DCP Nidhin Valsan. As the days turned into weeks and the weeks into months, hope began to dwindle. However, the Narela police didn’t give up.
A team, led by ASI Balraj, continued its search, showing the child’s photographs at various ashrams, shelter homes and adoption agencies. The team succeeded in its mission and the boy was finally found at Gharonda Specialised Adoption Agency on Tuesday. He was identified by his parents, who work as daily-wage labourers. After completing all the legal formalities, the boy was finally reunited with his family.
The emotional moment also left everyone surprised as it coincided with the child’s birthday on Dec 3. The team made the occasion even more special by cutting a cake.
