Panaji: Health minister Vishwajit Rane on Monday said that the super-speciality block (SSB) at Goa Medical College at Bambolim will implement the hospital information management system (HIMS) from Jan 2025.
“This transformative initiative is designed to streamline hospital operations, improve efficiency, and provide seamless access to patient records. With this advanced system patients will experience quicker registration, faster diagnostics, and enhanced overall care,” Rane said. Govt has approved implementing hospital information system at GMC’s super-speciality block.
The system will cover handling of electronic medical records (EMR), which involves gathering, preserving, and administration of patient data.
It also facilitates hospital operations management and provides support for healthcare-related policy-making decisions.
GMC dean Dr S M Bandekar earlier told TOI that this digital platform will enable immediate access to patient information and locations.
“The system balances pre-booked appointments with walk-in registrations, particularly benefiting underprivileged patients who might struggle with online booking procedures. We will also create a system where follow-up treatment can be taken without an online appointment,” he had said.
