One: Eric Berry
Eric Berry, a Kansas City Chiefs Safety, was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s disease in 2014. Cancer of the lymphatic system, Hodgkin’s disease responds well to treatment. Soon after he was diagnosed with the deadly disease, he began chemotherapy sessions. After going through the treatment for nine months, he was declared fit to return to the playing field.

Two: Muhammad Ali
Arguably one of the greatest boxers of all time, Muhammad Ali remained feared by the best boxers of his time. The king of the ring was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1984. A degenerative condition, Parkinson’s affects the central nervous system of a person. The champion died of respiratory illness in 2016.
Three: Martina Navratilova
The nine-time Wimbledon singles champion, Martina Navratilova, revealed her condition in 2010. After being diagnosed with breast cancer, Martina wanted to keep her condition quiet.

“She had the tumor surgically removed and went through six weeks of chemotherapy. Navratilova initially wanted to keep her condition quiet but decided to go public to raise awareness.”
Four: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
In November 2009, one of the greatest basketball players of all time announced that he was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was silent about his condition for well over a year.
