New Delhi: A 33-year-old man was stabbed to death allegedly by his neighbour in east Delhi’s New Ashok Nagar on Monday night. The neighbour suspected that the man had an affair with his wife.
Police received information regarding the murder from a local hospital where the victim, Bechu Ram, was taken for treatment around 11 pm.
An officer said that the accused, Suraj, allegedly confronted Ram around 10.30 pm in an inebriated state and accused him of having an affair with his wife. Witnesses claimed that Ram attempted to defuse the situation and asked Suraj to return home given the late hour. But Suraj did not listen to him and attacked him with a knife.
A local resident, who took Ram to the hospital, told police that he heard the initial argument between the two men and then left. Minutes after the confrontation, Ram knocked on his door and was found lying in a pool of blood. Doctors declared him dead upon arrival at the hospital. Ram succumbed to multiple stab wounds to his abdomen, stomach and neck.
The accused is still at large. “A murder case has been registered. We are conducting searches at various locations to nab him,” the officer said.
