New Delhi: Delhi Development Authority is set to enhance security at Baansera Park, which is situated along the Yamuna floodplain, by installing CCTV cameras. The authority has initiated the tender process for the CCTV camera installation, which is likely to cost Rs 51 lakh.
Officials said that the installation work was likely to take two months. “For safety, further protection of the floodplain and to avoid future encroachments, CCTV surveillance is being added now. The project is part of various upgradation and modernisation work being carried out at Baansera for the convenience of the visitors,” DDA stated.
The monthly fee for individuals who visit Baansera for morning walks will be Rs 500. According to an order issued on Nov 29, children or students up to 13 will not be charged any fee, and senior citizens above 60 will also be allowed entry free. “And school and college students above 13 years and the general public will be required to buy tickets of Rs 50 for entry,” stated the order.
The latest fee structure will be displayed prominently at the entry points and on online platforms.
DDA has transformed a wasteland along the Yamuna into Baansera, which is a public recreational space. The park, situated on the western banks of the river, houses more than 30,000 bamboo plants comprising 15 different varieties. The 28-acre park is part of the larger 163-hectare Kalindi Aviral initiative. The authority has also introduced the medicinal Lakadong turmeric plant from Meghalaya, cultivating it across two acres.
The facilities at Baansera include musical fountains, open lawns and the newly constructed bamboo cafe with seating arrangement for 100 people. The fountain displays occur twice daily at 7:30 pm and 8:30 pm from Sunday to Tuesday, each lasting 30 minutes. The authority also restored two water bodies at this place, and later musical fountains were installed at one of these.
