Dasari Purnachandra Rao vs The State Of Andhra Pradesh on 10 February, 2026

The Criminal Petition has been filed under Section 482 of the Code of

Criminal Procedure, 1973 (for brevity ‘the Cr.P.C.,’)/Section 528 of the

Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (for brevity ‘the BNSS’) seeking to

quash proceedings against Petitioners/Accused Nos.1 to 4 in Cr.No.464 of

2025 on the file of the Nunna Police Station, Vijayawada, Krishna District,

registered for the alleged offence punishable under Section 85 read with 3(5)

of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (for brevity, ‘the BNS’).

2. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioners and the learned Assistant

Public Prosecutor. Perused the record.

3. As seen from the record, Petitioner No.1 (husband) and Petitioners

Nos.2 to 4 (in-laws) of Respondent No.2 have allegedly subjected her to

physical and mental harassment for dowry after her marriage on 09.12.2018.

The respondent further alleges neglect, being forced into prostitution, and that

Petitioner No.1 maintained an illicit relationship with another woman and beat

her when confronted. The offence alleged against Petitioners/Accused Nos.1

to 4 is punishable with imprisonment of less than seven years.
