Dabur India faces ₹3.47 cr demand from CGST in West Bengal, ET LegalWorld

According to Dabur’s exchange filing, Dabur India Limited received an order from the office of Additional Commissioner, CGST & CX, Kolkata South Commissionerate.

The Additional Commissioner has confirmed a demand for Rs. 1,73,82,000/- along with equal penalty in the state of West Bengal and interest as applicable on the ground of disallowance of, “Transitional credit“.

The Order demands ₹ 3,47,64,000/—plus applicable interest, per the following details. The demand comprises a tax demand of ₹ 1,73,82,000/—, interest under section 50 of the CGSTAct, 2017, and a penalty of ₹ 1,73,82,000/-.

The Order was received on January 11, 2025.

The Company is likely to challenge the order before the appellate authority. “The Company shall be filing an appeal before the 1st Appellate Authority on merits and is likely to get a favorable order,” Dabur said in an exchange filing.
